Upon finishing school, teenagers have no idea what they want to do with their lives. Apparently no one ever explained that to a 19-year-old Bill Strickland. Since founding Manchester Craftsman’s Guild in Pittsburgh and assuming leadership of the nearby Bidwell Training Center, Bill has cultivated an environment of hope and possibility for 50 years. But this isn’t a story about Bill. This is a story of curing the cancer of the human spirit, lifting people out of the cycle of poverty, and giving young men and women the tools they need to carve out a new future and new outcomes for themselves – no matter what their backgrounds or circumstances may be. Narrated by Bill Strickland, this short documentary film commemorates 50 years past and boldly embraces the next 50 years to come.
